A PTZ camera covers ground that would otherwise take several fixed cameras, and its optical zoom can read a plate or a face at a distance no fixed lens would resolve.

It is only looking one way at a time, so Revere pairs PTZ units with fixed cameras that hold the wide view, and sets presets and tours so the camera returns to the important scene by itself.
