A thermal camera sees heat rather than light, so smoke, fog, glare and total darkness do not affect it. On a perimeter it detects a person at a range no conventional camera would manage, and in a plant room it finds a bearing or a connection running hot before it fails.

Revere uses thermal for long perimeters and for early fire detection in stockpiles and waste handling, where a hot spot appears long before a flame.
