In an atrium, a warehouse or a covered stadium concourse the ceiling is too high for point detectors to see smoke in useful time. A beam detector projects across the space and reads the obscuration of that beam instead.

One beam covers what would otherwise take dozens of detectors and a great deal of access equipment to maintain. Revere aligns and commissions each beam and sets the sensitivity to the building’s normal conditions.
