Conventional Fire Alarm System

A conventional system divides a building into zones and tells you which zone is in alarm. For a school block, a clinic, a small factory or a single-stair apartment building, that is enough to find a fire quickly — and it costs considerably less to install than an addressable system.

The value is in how the zoning is drawn. Revere sets zones so that each one maps to somewhere a person can search in seconds, keeps escape routes on their own zones, and hands over a zone chart that matches the building as it was actually built rather than as it was first drawn.
